He put his dishes on the counter and looked around for the trash for his beer bottle.  Dana held out a hand.  “I recycle those.”  She motioned to the door.  “I’ll walk you out.”

“No need, Dana.  We’ll see you next week.”

They wore matching grins as they walked out the front door

Jenny turned to say hello to Joe, instantly picking up on the fact that he was cozy here in the kitchen with her mom. Way to go, Mom!

“Hi, Joe.” She eyed the plate in front of him.  “Another test subject.  Cool.”  With that Jenny went to her room to deposit her books and bags.

He looked back to Dana where she stood holding the sandals.  “I’m a test subject?”

“Mom, I got you the cutest sandals.  Look!”  Jenny held out a pair of black flip flops with silver flowers on the straps.  “They were $4.00 with my discount.”

She took the sandals, her mouth breaking into a wide smile.  “Thanks, Jenny.  These will look great with my new sun dress.”  She stepped in to hug Jenny.

“Jenny, we have a few people over.  This is Joe, Carter’s dad.  Joe, this is Jenny.”
